The queue stores accepted messages awaiting an SMTP delivery outcome. It is not a mailbox archive. After the destination accepts a message, it leaves the delivery queue. Historical metadata may remain for its separate retention window without retaining a downloadable copy of that message.
Missing ownership proof, service suspension or a destination problem can pause processing. Waiting during a pause still consumes queue lifetime. Check the oldest queued item and the settings actually applied to your domain, not only a generic marketing number.
A limit on the encoded SMTP message includes headers and encoding overhead. A file attachment grows when encoded, so a file matching the displayed message limit may exceed it after encoding. Storage is finite and shared; the absence of a per-message charge does not mean unlimited storage.
Confirmed domain deletion purges its queued and held messages. A shared queued message may contain recipients in several domains; purging that message also removes it for the other pending recipients. Read the deletion confirmation and coordinate with the administrator before irreversible removal.
Recorded delivery and SMTP status metadata is retained for 90 days under the current operational retention policy. Collection can be delayed or incomplete. Collection can be delayed or incomplete. Do not rely on it as a legal mail archive or recoverable message backup. Preserve business records in the appropriate system.
Review queue and subscription dates in the portal. Reminder emails themselves can be delayed or rejected. Keep an independent account email and arrange recovery of the real destination before queue expiry.
Read delivery errors without confusing temporary retry, permanent rejection and inbox placement.
